The Giant Pause Podcast

Meals for the NHS Fundraiser Episode

Episode Summary

What started as an idea to raise a small amount of money to provide a few free hospital meals blew up overnight. Waking up to find you've raised over £100k is an unusual problem to have. And aside now from how to use the money - what were they solving? After 18-hour shifts trying to save our lives from COVID-19, NHS Hospital Staff are faced with canteens that shut at 5pm. In this episode we hear from Mo - one of the 70 incredible volunteers for Meals for the NHS that to date has raised £1.6m, delivered 135k meals to 86 hospitals from 182 food providers across 49 areas nationally. Running 28 Well Hung - one of the restaurants involved in supporting this huge effort, this episode is especially poignant.
